working in an intentional Christian community, exploring who they are
called to be and what that looks like in this world where God has placed us.
Applications are due Aug 15. The pastor leader served as a Young Adult in
the Philippines. For more information see http://www.montreat.org/young/2008community.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL/YOUNG ADULT DELEGATES!!!!

Are you looking
for something cool to do during your spring break this year!? How
about going to Los Angeles, and not just for sightseeing, but for
MISSION! You heard a bit this year about the organization called
FACELESS INTERNATIONAL, and they just announced the opportunity for
several trips to LA starting the week of March 9th and running through
the week of April 6th. It's a great opportunity for mission and to
help BE THE CHANGE! The cost of $800 plus airfare gets you a whole
weeks worth of housing, food, a fun day trip, and plenty of opportunity
to help others. And you can be 16 or older to attend! For more
information or to request an application visit www.facelessinternational.com or write to sarah@facelessinternational.com
Hurry,
the spots will fill fast. And who knows, being in LA, you never know
if one of your favorite band members might stop in and say hello!! Contact Adrien Domske with questions.

If you have mission opportunities to share, please let me know.

Prayer Request

A 28 year old Pakistani Christian man named Manus,
The first "Chosen Generation Missions Conference" was a great success!
We saw the Lord move in a great and mighty way. Even though the
overall attendance was much smaller than what we had envisioned when we
began planning the conference in 2007, we were thankful to the Lord for
the 70 people who registered for the conference. On the last day of
the conference, we had over 100 people who came to attend the music
concert which we had that afternoon as well as the evening session.

It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm among the young Malawian in
regards to missions. The Lord is indisputably at work in Malawi.
There is a great movement of the Spirit of the Lord in the hearts and
lives of His children and across the land. I praise the Lord for
allowing me the blessing of seeing that and being a part of it in a
small way. I trust that in a few years, the world will see wave after
wave of Malawian Christians going out for battle against the forces of
darkness all around the world. That is indeed my prayer and the prayer
of many who participated in the conference as organizers and delegates.

The Lord's plans are always best. I enjoyed sharing the pulpit with
two Godly men whom I have known for a number of years (Charles Morris,
President and Speaker for Haven Ministries, as well as Steven Lungu,
Evangelist and International Director for African Enterprise). Both of
these men are God-fearing men. They truly love the Lord and desire to
see the salvation of the lost. They indeed sounded the trumpet loudly
and clearly - pleading with men and women to be "reconciled to
God...for He made Him who knew no sin to become sin on our behalf in
order that we would become the righteousness of God in Him" 2
Corinthians 5:21. As you already know, the theme of the conference was
"Chosen to Proclaim" taken out of 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen
generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own
possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called
you out of darkness into His marvelous light." A passionate plea was
given out to all who were in attendance to embrace the call of God upon
all of our lives, namely, "to proclaim the excellencies of Him who
called us out of darkness into His marvelous light." The Lord says in
Malachi 1:11, "For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name
will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be
offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will e great
among the nations, says the Lord of hosts." Every delegate left the
conference with a strong sense of call to give themselves to the work
of making God's Name great among the nations for this is indeed the
call and essence of missions.

I praise the Lord to have been given the blessing and privilege of
organizing the first missions conference ever in Malawi (and maybe
Southern Africa). My desire and prayer is that there will be many more
which will follow in the years to come to the glory and praise of the
Lord of heaven and to the blessing and salvation of His people.

Thank you and NWMC for all the support that you have given us to make
this conference dream a reality. The Lord has used your prayer,
financial support and encouragement to launch a movement and a mighty
work whose ripple effects will literary impact the world for Christ.

In addition to this, I would also like to thank you for sending the
summer service team to us this year. It was a blessing to have them at
the conference. I personally thank the Lord for each one of them and I
trust that the Lord will use the time that they spent in Malawi to
enrich their own spiritual lives and guide them in the way that they
should walk in the days ahead as they seek to serve Him and to "grow in
the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ" who has redeemed us
from the curse of the law and died in order that we may live. Thank
you and may the Lord bless you. Please pass my regards to everyone at
the conference this year. I pray that all will see Christ exalted
above all, in all and through all the speakers this year!

We have already began to think about; pray for and plan next years'
conference. Lord willing, we will hold the conference from July 1 to
July 6, 2009. On behalf of Joy to the World Ministries and the team
which will be organizing next year's conference, I would like to extend
an invitation to all of the NWMC family to come and join us as we
continue pursuing God's call upon our lives to "proclaim the
excellencies" of His Name to the world that is lost in darkness.

Thank you again for everything! May the Lord richly bless you all.

Love in Christ,

Day of Prayer at New
Wilmington Mission Conference

July 19, 9 AM
– 4 PM

Witherspoon Room, McKelvey
Center

Westminster College

You are invited to join
in the New Wilmington Mission Conference Day of Prayer on July 19, 9
AM – 4 PM. The Day of Prayer has been a long-standing tradition
for the staff at NWMC. It is a standard part of our preparation
for the week. This year we are expanding the Day of Prayer by
expanding our invitation to everyone and by focusing our prayers
more on the world.

This expanded Day of
Prayer is in response to a new spark of mission fervor and commitment
in the PC(USA). At a World Mission Consultation in Dallas in January
an “Invitation to Expanding Partnership in God’s Mission” was
signed by all 64 mission leaders attending. In conjunction with
this, the PC(USA) World Mission unit has retooled to be more responsive
to grass roots mission efforts - http://www.pcusa.org/worldmission/. The plan is to increase the number of full-time
missionaries from 196 to 215 in 2009.

The mission initiators
at the Dallas meeting committed to help move the PC(USA) forward to
greater mission involvement. The shared commitments in this statement
begin "As we move forward together in God’s mission, we commit
ourselves to calling the church to ongoing intercessory
prayer for God’s mission..." This Day of Prayer is
one of the efforts that NWMC has made as part of our commitment.

Moderator (former) Joan
Gray has committed to help lead this Day of Prayer. Director Don
Dawson and Rev. Linda Ruby will join her. The Lord’s Supper
will be celebrated at 11 AM.

Prayer is the most important
thing we do in our service to God. Prayer prepares us to be used
by God and opens the blessings of God upon all we do. Again and
again NWMC leaders have seen the power of prayer and can testify to
the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individuals and the influence
and vitality of the conference.

We hope you will join
us this year to seek the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the conference
and in all the world. We need your prayers joined with the NWMC
staff to seek after a new day in Presbyterian mission involvement.
Even if you will not be present, pray with us during this time for God’s
work in the world.

Any questions may be directed
