The Service Project is a wonderful way to put our faith into action during Conference!
It started out three years ago as a way to challenge the new junior high population, and the kids unpacked and repacked hundreds of Christian books and Bibles to be given away for others to hear the Good News. Two years ago, for the 100th NWMC, the Project took root as youth and delegates sorted and packed a literal mountain of AIDS Home Based Kits to our brothers and sisters in Africa. In 2006 each delegate was asked to bring items to contribute to Church World Service Health Care Kits.
This summer we saw the Service Project expand to the Presbyterian Church basement, and involved children from the older Primaries and Juniors as well as every junior high student. Many high school and adult delegates have been involved since the beginning as well, and do a lot of the "heavy lifting" of the service project.
Make sure to check back to hear about plans for 2007!
