  • Chosen Generation Missions Conference - A Letter from Fletcher Matandika

    Dear Don,

The first "Chosen Generation Missions Conference" was a great success!  We saw the Lord move in a great and mighty way.  Even though the overall attendance was much smaller than what we had envisioned when we began planning the conference in 2007, we were thankful to the Lord for the 70 people who registered for the conference.  On the last day of the conference, we had over 100 people who came to attend the music concert which we had that afternoon as well as the evening session.

It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm among the young Malawian in regards to missions.  The Lord is indisputably at work in Malawi.  There is a great movement of the Spirit of the Lord in the hearts and lives of His children and across the land.  I praise the Lord for allowing me the blessing of seeing that and being a part of it in a small way.  I trust that in a few years, the world will see wave after wave of Malawian Christians going out for battle against the forces of darkness all around the world.  That is indeed my prayer and the prayer of many who participated in the conference as organizers and delegates.

The Lord's plans are always best.  I enjoyed sharing the pulpit with two Godly men whom I have known for a number of years (Charles Morris, President and Speaker for Haven Ministries, as well as Steven Lungu, Evangelist and International Director for African Enterprise).  Both of these men are God-fearing men.  They truly love the Lord and desire to see the salvation of the lost.  They indeed sounded the trumpet loudly and clearly - pleading with men and women to be "reconciled to God...for He made Him who knew no sin to become sin on our behalf in order that we would become the righteousness of God in Him" 2 Corinthians 5:21.  As you already know, the theme of the conference was "Chosen to Proclaim" taken out of 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." A passionate plea was given out to all who were in attendance to embrace the call of God upon all of our lives, namely, "to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light."  The Lord says in Malachi 1:11, "For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering.  For my name will e great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts."  Every delegate left the conference with a strong sense of call to give themselves to the work of making God's Name great among the nations for this is indeed the call and essence of missions.

I praise the Lord to have been given the blessing and privilege of organizing the first missions conference ever in Malawi (and maybe Southern Africa).  My desire and prayer is that there will be many more which will follow in the years to come to the glory and praise of the Lord of heaven and to the blessing and salvation of His people.

Thank you and NWMC for all the support that you have given us to make this conference dream a reality.  The Lord has used your prayer, financial support and encouragement to launch a movement and a mighty work whose ripple effects will literary impact the world for Christ.

In addition to this, I would also like to thank you for sending the summer service team to us this year.  It was a blessing to have them at the conference.  I personally thank the Lord for each one of them and I trust that the Lord will use the time that they spent in Malawi to enrich their own spiritual lives and guide them in the way that they should walk in the days ahead as they seek to serve Him and to "grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ" who has redeemed us from the curse of the law and died in order that we may live.  Thank you and may the Lord bless you.  Please pass my regards to everyone at the conference this year.  I pray that all will see Christ exalted above all, in all and through all the speakers this year!

We have already began to think about; pray for and plan next years' conference.  Lord willing, we will hold the conference from July 1 to July 6, 2009.  On behalf of Joy to the World Ministries and the team which will be organizing next year's conference, I would like to extend an invitation to all of the NWMC family to come and join us as we continue pursuing God's call upon our lives to "proclaim the excellencies" of His Name to the world that is lost in darkness.

Thank you again for everything!  May the Lord richly bless you all.

    Love in Christ,

    Fletcher
  • Fall 2006 Expanded Scattered Chatter Page 2

Here's page 2 of the Expanded Scattered Chatter for the fall of 2006.  It's an easily understandable overview of the ways you can support New Wilmington Mission Conference financially.

It may not be the most exciting thing, but I didn't realize we had half of these funds and what they were designed to support.  I strongly recommend giving this the quick look it deserves.

I've attached it as a PDF file below.  Just click on the attachment (2006-November-Expanded-p2.pdf) to view it or right-click to save.  You will need Adobe Reader to view the file.
