B J Woodworth is the lead pastor of The Open Door, a three year-old PC(USA) missional church community in Pittsburgh's East End. He serves the community by being a visionary guide, worship choreographer, mission equipper, community catalyst, and prophetic poet. BJ is a graduate of Westminster College and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He worked in campus ministry for the CCO at Bellefield Presbyterian Church and the University of Pittsburgh from 1992-2003. He also served on the staff of Bellefield Church as the Director of Outreach and Discipleship while preparing to plant what is now The Open Door. BJ is married to Katrina and has four children, Kyra, Elena and twins Zach and Alex.
BJ will be speaking on the idea that "We the church in North America find ourselves in a vastly different social location and cultural context than a few decades ago. Therefore we must reacquaint ourselves with our missionary God and rediscover a contextual theology in order to faithfully incarnate the Gospel in our home culture." And he will ask the question, "What will it require for us to see ourselves as missionaries to our own culture?"
