The Web and Christ's Mission

PCUSA RSS Frustrations Continue

I've subscribed to the PCUSA New RSS feed again (I now have 3 PCUSA RSS subscriptions in my reader from the last 3-6 months).  I'm really excited about the site integrating RSS, especially this feed of missionary letters, but I can't figure out how to subscribe to it or integrate it into the site.  They do a great job explaining what it is and why to use it, but I can't find the feed and don't like it!  Does anyone know more about this?  If so, please contact me.

I'd email them instead of airing it on the web, but it looks like their website is down, so I can't get contact information and there are other things I have to get done today.  RSS is about convenience and saving time, not being painful.

There's so much potential here, but if I can't figure it out, there aren't many who will be able to.

I've used the RSS feeds without any problems. I start at this page: http://www.pcusa.org/pcnews/rss.htm then I choose the "web site" version cause I am not using an RSS Reader. I register. Then I follow all the steps after picking hte coorect feed topic -- clicking continue each step of the way. At the end I am given a short line of Code. I put that code into my website where I want it to show up. I usually place it in a cell of a table so that I can control the placement of the RSS information on the page. The first time I used the feeds a couple of years ago, I had to call for help, they were very friendly and helped me right away. Help is easily available at (800) 434-8607 (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time) Alos Norton Internet Securities can block the RSS script in some browsers. (Ad Blocking Feature) It is possible to set Norton to allow all ads from the site you are working on. I hope you are able toget it working.

Thanks, Laura. I also received an email from Jennifer at the national office, so I'm going to look into this some more and I'll respond in another post. I do hope i don't have to register and I really just want the RSS feed instead of a line of code because I can do more with that to share the information better. The whole point of RSS is to make it easier to find and share information without tying it to a specific layout or way of being displayed. These may sound technical and/or picky, but they are important to making a site work well and look good, so they matter to web developers.
