    Re: Introduce Yourself

    Hey All,

I'me Rae, I'm 15 and i've been coming every year since i was born. and my mother and grandmother have been coming long before that, so i'm a hard core NWMC girl through and through. last year when I heard DRIVE i loved them, and this year i liked them even more. So I just wanted to find out more about them and what they do, and since you're the first one i've heard mention music so far i thought i'de jump in right here. I've checked all through this site and couldn't find anything about them (allthough that could just be the blonde genes kicking in there:-) So I was hoping somebody would know if they have a web site or anything, and if so could they hook me up? Thanks!

    Stardust and Chocolate

    Rae

    P.S

I just had to re-write this whole e-mail because the last one i had disapeird, so if 2 copys come up it's not my fault i swear!

    Hi Rae,

I can only tell you so much, the person to speak to is Ali Rhea.  She did some mission work with them a few years ago.  Here is the website link:  http://www.miamimusicministries.org/

    Re: Introduce Yourself

I am Tobyn!  I am the better, brighter, older sister of Tyler.  I went to college with Chip and Tom, at the beautiful Westminster campus (oh yeah, Ty was there one of those years, so was Traci).  I hung out with Andrew growing up, and I remember (and have pictures of) Rob when he was still a conference kid.  And unfortunatly I can say that I went to prom with Matt Geiger.  I even had Gail Goter Rohde as my College Small Group leader (twice if I recall).  I don't think she ever did the college small group thing after that.

Our age group (actually my cousins who are 5 years older.) are the reason we have all of these nifty extra programs.  Our parents were there as the staff and they realized they needed to do something with the kids, so they created all these extra things for us.  I remember going to the basement of the Methodist Church and taking tin class in Juniors and we make a bunch of tin candle holders and learned how to sodder (Tyler go to take T-shirt design/screenprinting).  I remember everyone signing up for the biking class, and I remember learning about David and having the teachers tell us there were R rated parts so we all went home to the dorms and read the parts they would not read in Bible Study.  Then I rember watching duck tales in Jr Highs in the upstairs lobby of Eich.  And in High School we would sit in the room in Hillside with the lights, hollering at those (normally one of my roommates) who where "saying" goodnight before the guys had to get back to the tents.

My conference delegate life has been:

Conference Kid, Junior, Jr. High Delegate, High School Delegate, Young Adult Delegate, NWMC Office Assistant, Jr High Speaker, and Media Team (I used to be one of the ones running the projection in Anderson)

2006 would have been my 30th NWMC!  But I am working for a Presbytery in NC as their Youth person and try as heard as I could I wasn't able to get out of obligations for the Presbytery.  2007 is Presbyterian Youth Triennium (the bane of New Wilmington Missionary Conference).  I am trying to find a way to bring youth (kicking and screaming, or moaning and sleeping) to the NWMC from Purdue next year.  We need to bring a little of the South to NWMC and prove there is a conference for youth other than Montreat.

Once you get going here, it is hard to quit!

    Re: Introduce Yourself

Tee-hee!  I am now a mere 3 conferences away from breaking your streak of 29!  Yee-ha!

You should also have noted, Tob, that it was because of us (perhaps specifically because of the two of us) that the Conference Kids now have a 10pm curfew.  We used to stay out until 11 routinely, laughing at all of the High School Delegates that were off to their respective tents and/or dorms.

And we swam in the Lake.

    Far, far too many times.

Missed you up in the booth this year.  Could have used your videographic prowess.

    Don't let it happen again.

    Love, Ty

Hey Jesus, you're so fine. You're so fine you blow my mind.

    Re: Introduce Yourself

Swimming in the lake . . . that explains a lot

    Re: Introduce Yourself

Point of clarification . . . It was not to the 2 of us who single handedly created the curfew . . . but you and cousin Scott!

I steered clear of swimming in the scary Alabama-shaped-lake (a place, I might add, you continued to swim in until last year.)

I had to go to bed and listened to everyone running around while a couple times during the week you stayed over at Grandma's (FM not Lola) and could stay out till well after the High school delegates were in.  The only day I got to stay up was the last night when Andrew and I and our friends would stay up most of the night playing pool and talking, until some adult came an yelled at us for being too loud.

I'm sure there are other Tyler Domske acts in place.

    Re: Introduce Yourself

    Tobyn,

Here is one suggestion about how to bring kids to NWMC, duct tape.   It really works in this day and age.   There is nothing like a van full of young youth, duct tape on their mouth and around their wrist.   It makes for very quiet rides in the van and the police love it.

But seriously, I hope you are able to make both work.   Good Luck with that and pass on the wisdom so others like me can benifit from you wisdom.

Matt, I feel it for you . . . I bet it had something to do with that Nett kid from Oostburg . . .

    Re: Introduce Yourself

OK, so Matt was a lot of fun to take to the prom.  And all my friends were excited that I asked him.  But I do admit that I did ask Aaron Nett first, and he started by trying to go, but then he had to go to states for track.  Apparently my criteria for prom was, do you go to NWMC. Besides I was going to marry Aaron Nett - don't know what happened there.  Oh well.

"Apparently my criteria for prom was, do you go to NWMC" - Sounds like that belongs in the Why I go to NWMC forum.

    Re: Introduce Yourself

This is Cody Watson.  First attended NWMC in 1996 and I have missed only one year

since.  Our son Cody Richards Watson attended when he was 10 months old and his Mom Talulah have missed 2 years since 1996.  I remember meeting Matt Ruby that year when we worked with the High School students and he had been there 22 straight years!  Anyway it has become a highlight and now our son doesn't want to miss NWMC either.

I am logging on after meeting Andrew and want to get a blog started for interest in India.

I am with Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship based in Birmingham, Al.

Blessed to be a Blessings,   Cody

    Re: Introduce Yourself

    Hello everyone!

I am Kirk Eickhoff. I live in Northeast Ohio with my wife Trisia. From
reading all the other posts, I have gathered that there is a conference
resume requirement in my introduction, so here goes:

3 years as a conference kid, 4 years high school delegate, 2 years
young adult, Summer Service 2004 (Slovenia), and 2 years high school
counselor, Founder and President of the Tom Ayres Fan Club.

From my perspective, this year boasts the best conference ever. The
100th was kind of a stinker, and it made me question how much longer I
cared to be a part of NWMC. I am so happy to see conference begin to
evolve. Many more changes need to be made, but it seems as though the
    ball is rolling.

I am looking forward to 2007.
