    gettin around the site

Hi everyone!  Wow - what an amazing week!!!!!!! It is wonderful to be back home - I just woke up from a four hour "nap". :~)   It helps that I'm only 1.5 hours away.  I'm praying for all of you who are still on the road to have safe travels.

OK - I;m pretty good at computers - but I'm a bit lost on this site.  I know there are photos of conference here - but it's not showing any at this time from any area of conference. Do I need to do anything special to be able to connect into them?  I also do not know what  del.icio.us! | digg it! | reddit!  are.  It's a bit confusing - an explanation may be needed.  I haven't set up my "info" yet - but I don't have a secret identity. I'm Jen - I'm the one who waved her arms alot this year - Jr. Highs, Young Adults, Conference Choir, and Careers. I was so blessed an humbled by my experiences this week. It was amazing - amazing grace - which sustained me throughout the conference.

Now, we're back home. My house still stands after a week of "boys only" and life goes on. But, it's changed - my spark is renewed and my spirit will continue throughout the year. I can't wait to get to church tomarrow. Yes, I'll sing - and sing strong.  There's no "time-off" from God's work. I'm just wavin my arms. :~)

    Blessings to you all -

    Jen Morris

    Re: gettin around the site

    Hi Jen,

This is Andrew Dawson (whodurun4 is my super hero name - there's a link to the explanation in the introduce yourself forum).

Thanks for the questions.  Here are some answers:

    1.  There actually are not any photos on this site yet.  Desta is currently uploading every picture he took this week (about 6,000?) to the same site he did last year where people could order prints for themselves.  We'll link to that as soon as it is available and post the best of the best in the photo gallery here.  I'll post links on the home page as soon as he gives me the word.  I need to update the site before he can post the highlights here so he doesn't have to post them one at a time.  I'm hoping to have it done in the next couple days.

    2. The three links you listed, del.icio.us, digg and reddit are social bookmarking sites where people can bookmark and/or "vote" for a page that they like on the web site just by clicking on the link from that page.  You need to have an account with one of these websites to do that, but I hope these will allow people to share the conference website with others more easily.  I use del.icio.us to share bookmarks between different computers at home and work.  You can see my bookmarks at http://del.icio.us/whodurun4.  It's mostly technology related, but will give you an idea of what one looks like.

Thanks for the good questions and let us know if there are more.

    Andrew

    Re: gettin around the site

Jen, thanks for starting this off. We have to remember Andrew is a true "techie" and all of this makes perfect sense to him.Smile I think we can be helpful if we do just what you did by identifying specific things that are confusing or difficult. Maybe even give us a day or two to work some things out first.

We think the new opportunities Andrew's site allows (podcasting, forums, blogs) will be great additions and we beg everyone's patience as we adjust it to be more user friendly and hopefully able to support the photos as soon as we can get Desta awake enough to send them! (He worked a race all day)

Andrew really wanted his new site to be up and running by Conference but ran into some conversion problems so we are sorry about the down time during such a crucial week.

Blog away! For us non-techies that translates, go ahead and get in on a discussion if you'd like.

It was great being with you all at Conference.

    Re: gettin around the site

excellent questions Jen!  I can't wait to see this site grow!  Never give up.  I listened to Tony Campolo's Sunday night podcast in my hotel room tonight.  Amazing.  I am excited about sharing these podcasts with people that couldn't come this year.  Keep poking around and ask those great questions!

    Re: gettin around the site

Got a question - Is there a way to mark all forums as read without going to each one?  If not, could this be added in the future?

    Great site, BTW!

    Blessings,

    Re: gettin around the site

That's a good question and I'm not sure of the answer to it off the top of my head, but you can filter the unread posts page by forum, forum group or date.  There's even a "New since last visit" option for the date filter.

Hope that helps and let me know if you want more.
