    PSALM 23

            1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

            2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

            3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

            4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

            5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

            6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

    MEMORIAL GIFTS:

The Lois Anderson and Zelda White Scholarship Fund has been established

    for needy seminary students at

St. Paul's United Theological College and University in Limuru, Kenya.

    Zelda Mai Anderson

Zelda Mai Anderson was born at Kampala on June 30th, 1955.  At the time, her parents were living in southern Sudan.  She moved to Kenya in 1959 and spent her early years living at St. Paul's Theological College where her parents taught.

She attended Green Acres School and later attended and graduated from the Rift Valley Academy in 1973.  She studied briefly at L'Abri, Switzerland and later, like her mother, attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

At Geneva College, she met Craig White.  They were married in 1978.  They lived their first year of marriage in Queens, New York City.  They then became U.S. Peace Corps volunteers in Oman, teaching English as a Foreign Language.  They continued to live in Oman from 1982 to 1987, where they began to raise a family:  Elijah, born in 1982 in New York; Arielle, born in 1985 in the UAE; and Maxwell, born in 1987 in the UAE.

After a short return to upstate New York, Zelda and Craig and the children lived for a year in Peshawar, Pakistan, after which they lived for a year in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Craig then joined the U.S. Foreign Service, and Zelda accompanied him to Yemen, Iceland, Zaire, Washington DC, back to Oman for the third time, and finally to Kenya.

Along the way Zelda spent many years teaching English as a Foreign Language.  In Kenya, she felt a call to study theology.  She returned to St. Paul's Theological College where she had lived as a child, this time as a student.  In December 2006 she completed course work for a Bachelor of Divinity degree from St. Paul's.  Like Lois, Zelda made a wide spectrum of friends. The circle of her friendships crossed all divides of race, nationality, and religion as well.  She had a great love for and faith in God, and looked for His guidance daily.  She had a deep love for her children, and gave them continual support and encouragement.

Left with many cherished memories, these remain:

Beloved husband  Craig White,   Children, Elijah, Arielle, Maxwell

    Father,  Rev. William Anderson

Sister,  Sylvia Moller   Brothers,  Phillip,  Stephen

Brother-in-law,  Otto Moller,   Sisters-in-law, Joy Anderson and Kaori Anderson

A host of other family and friends.

    Lois Purdy Anderson

Lois Purdy Crawford was born in western Pennsylvania on May, 28th 1927, the youngest of 3 children (sister Roberteen, and brother Harold). She spent her early years on a family farm.  She graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania in 1949 and became a school teacher and taught 2nd grade in Beaver. It was during this time that she met William B. Anderson, the son and grandson of Presbyterian missionaries, who had just completed seminary training in Pittsburgh.

On June 9th 1951, Lois and William were married in Beaver and immediately began missionary training.  In October, 1951, they sailed to Egypt to undergo intensive Arabic language training in Cairo.  They taught initially at Attar school in Upper Nile, southern Sudan.  During this time, their first daughter, Sylvia was born in Tanta, Egypt.  They moved to Mundri, Equatoria (southern Sudan) in 1955 and soon thereafter their second daughter Zelda was born at Mengo Hospital, in Kampala on June 30, 1955. While still living in Mundri, their third child Philip was born in Lui, southern Sudan.  1959 they were expelled from Sudan and moved to Kenya, where they taught at St. Paul's Theological College for 12 years.  During this period their fourth and last child, Stephen, was born in Nairobi, in 1963.

They moved to Uganda in 1972 during Idi Amin's time and taught at Makerere University.  When peace came to southern Sudan following the first civil war, they returned to Sudan in December 1973 and lived for 10 years at Doleib Hill, and helped establish the Giffen Bible School.  When civil war re-erupted in 1984, they moved to Khartoum and worked to establish the Gereif Bible School.  In 1990 they helped found the Nile Theological College, in Khartoum North, which is still operating today.  From 1995 - 2000, they divided their time between Khartoum and Kenya where they worked on research and writing a book on the church history of Sudan.

In 2000 they retired and moved to Clinton, South Carolina where they settled at Frampton Hall with other retirees.  They continued to travel, to speak at churches and to visit their children and grandchildren.

Lois always had a special gift of thinking of others, a sharp memory for names, a welcoming manner and a warm smile.  She loved God, her family, and many, many others.

Left with many cherished memories, these remain:
