Ellen Sherby

Sunday Morning Preacher

The Rev. Ellen Sherby is the associate director of Global Connections in World Mission in the Presbyterian Mission Agency. She oversees the work of four global offices in their work to accompany hundreds of international partners and over sixty mission co-workers on four continents in ministries of peace, justice, education and sustainable development. She also coordinates the Equipping for Mission Involvement office, supervising staff who provide mission education resources to U.S. Presbyterians and help churches and mission co-workers connect with each other through letters and visits. Ellen holds a Master of Science degree in Pedagogy from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua in Managua, Nicaragua and a Master of Divinity degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky. Ellen is a minister member of Mid-Kentucky Presbytery and attends Beechmont Presbyterian Church in Louisville, KY, a multicultural and multilingual congregation. She accompanies her husband, the Rev. Elmer Zavala, in the leadership of a Latino/Hispanic immigrant ministry through Mid-Kentucky Presbytery. She and Elmer are the parents of three children ages 23, 19 and 13.
