Ariane Hariart
Plenary Speakers
Ariane Hariart has been running an NGO in Kabul, Afghanistan for nearly 20 years called Le Pélican, which helps the poorest members of society. Her life was turned upside down when her only son died at the age of 10 after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. Overwhelmed by immense sadness, her husband Jacques took her on a spiritual quest that radically changed the course of their lives. Their spiritual discoveries led them to Afghanistan, where they founded Le Pélican.
Ariane has dedicated her efforts to helping the women, children, and deaf-mutes of Kabul, providing them with hope and a brighter future, even though each day could potentially be their last. Her book, From Colmar to Kabul, tells the poignant story of her extraordinary journey. It is a testament to a life where the depths of suffering and despair are overcome by renewal and light.
